Tony

Tony came to us from an auction with very limited background information. We were told he had been ridden in the past, but due to his small size, he will not be adopted out as a riding mini.

When Tony first arrived, he had a previous muzzle injury that left some scarring, along with open wounds and a runny eye. He has since made a full recovery and is now healthy and sound, with only light cosmetic scarring remaining.

​

Since arriving back in October, Tony’s personality has really started to shine. He is playful, a bit timid at times, and can still be slightly nervous about being caught, but he truly tries his best. He would not do well in a home with young kids. He is loving his time with Poncho our hinny. They play rough together and Tony seems to be the one in charge. ​

After noticing some stud-like behaviour we ran bloodwork only discover that Tony was infact never gelded and required a pretty invasive cryptorchid surgery. Despite now being gelded and fully healed he still shows signs of nervous, stud like behaviour as he tends to nip when touched at his neck and is weary of being handled. ​

Otherwise, Tony is doing very well. He is sound, up to date on vaccines, dental care, farrier work, and deworming, with no current health concerns. He does have a slightly larger left front knee; however, there is no heat or discomfort, and our vet has confirmed it does not affect his movement at the walk, trot, or canter—it’s simply a unique part of him.

Tony is looking for a patient, understanding home that will continue to build his confidence and let his fun, spirited personality thrive. He will require a unique, compassionate and knowledgeable home.
